Gagets and Gizmo's..

My sewing room has been a absolute disaster lately!! Those of you that have been over can attest to it!! I just simply have no more room!! So of course I start thinking...what can I can rid of that I don't need....Then I got to thinking....I love these little drawers!! Random I know...but go with me on it!

These little drawers hold all the items that make sewing so much easier...for me at least!!

First there is the magnetic pin holder. I often lay things out in my family room to pin them, and this little magnet keeps all my pins right there and not stuck in the carpet to be eaten by the vacuum or step on by an unsuspecting child or husband!! (It's happened before!)

A unpicker, well apparently it's called a seam ripper, but my Mom has always called it an unpicker, and so, I do too! This little tool is so great, and somewhat loathed, it's very handy to unpick that sleeve you sewed on backwards, yet loathed because you can't believed you sewed it on backwards in the first place!! Ahhh the joys of sewing!

A chalk pencil. This one is fancy being that you can change the color of the chalk out to fit what you are doing, and it comes off easily. My favorite item when I am embroidering a name or saying on a quilt and can't quite get the lettering just right! It just rubs off and you can start again!

I think this is called a seam gauge. However insignificant it "seams"...(hee hee) it helps to get that hem even or to put that button on at just the right spot!

Roller scissors, or as my daughter calls it, the sewing pizza cutter. Now this is not super helpful unless you are doing straight edges, but I use mine daily! Any other ideas to use it for?

Scissors....self explanatory! Fabric...cut..cut ;)

I seriously thought everyone who sews has a pair of these, but then again....! Nippers, I think that's what they are called, if not they are now! ;) They are meant to cut the thread close to the garment, and they are super handy at getting all those pesky threads off!

A bobbin ring! This has got to be my can't live without it item, meaning, I could totally live without it, I just wouldn't be as happy! :) I grew up with a Mom who has been sewing ever since I can remember. And when you sew for that many years, you get a few fun new gadgets, and this is one she introduced me to a few years ago. It holds your bobbin tight so it doesn't fall out or get unwound like those bobbin cases. And when I don't have to wind a bobbin every time I change thread, I am able to spend more time actually sewing!

Last but not least....A can of air. Apparently it's real use is for blowing air to dust electronics or something like that. I use it for my sewing machine! When I change the bobbin or when I notice my machine has a bit of that fuzz, I blow it out and it keeps things from getting jammed up!

Well, that's my favorite sewing gadgets, what's yours?

Until next time....
