It's the Season

Wow! It seems like yesterday I posted about Lucy's dress, yet I've been so busy getting Christmas stuff done! Hopefully I'll get to show you some things I'm working on later. Until then here's a quillow I just finished!

Merry Christmas!!

A Vision of A Dress

I don't know about you, but have you ever seen something and instantly been inspired? Well I recently was...I found 9 yds of this lace trim for just $3. So I quickly though of this, and mind you I can NOT draw at all!

(Don't mind that Lucy drew on it and wrote her name so I would know the dress would be for her! Silly girl!)
I thought this would be the perfect Holiday dress that could be worn year round! (That's my favorite kind of Holiday Dress!)
I found the exact material I was looking for. Score! Once the material got here, I got to work! Here is the final product!

Sometimes when I make my own patterns it works, sometimes it turns out horribly wrong. Luckily this time it turned out just how I had pictured, and I kind of love how the bodice looks like a tuxedo!

And the look of the alternating fabric and lace.

Best of all Lucy likes it too. And I was able to do a lot of things I had never done on a dress before, like the collar, the pleats and the lace on the bodice!

It also meet the twirl and curtsy requirements too!! ;)

Whats your little girls must haves?

A few things..

So remember when I told you about my cute little brother getting married. I finally have a few pictures to share. :) Aren't they cute!!

Remember me telling you about the little girl dresses and bowtie and suspenders I had made..

It was a beautiful day and I'm so happy they are FINALLY married! ;)

Okay I have just one other thing to show you....

First I had to replace a dress Lucy absolutely loved. I made it quickly for her last year and then she grew out of it and was devastated. This is what it looked like.

So I made this one to fill its place.

It's very similar upon Lucy's request. I did use a cute trim that I found at walmart a few weeks ago and have been wanting to work with.

Don't mind that the lighting is horrible and it totally looks a different color, but isn't it cute!

I have a few more things in the works, and I'll shown them to you soon!

Until next time....

Halloween Costumes

I got to thinking of Halloween's past..sometimes I made all the costumes, sometimes I didn't...
Here is look at us from past years!

2012

2011

2010

2009

Yes some years were better than others, but on to this year...
I made a Jedi Costume (all but the pants).

An Aquaman (all but the shirt and fins) It was my first time making gloves! :)

And who can forget Little Red Riding Hood. (I only made the cape and skirt.)

I'll have to post pictures of Bryan and I later. I'm still finishing them. :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Fall

Okay so I know it's been a while, but here's a bit of what I have been doing...

First of all I finished that name blanket for little Navy. And honestly the pictures DO NOT do it justice!! I am hoping to get better ones sometime, but when...who knows!

It's hard to tell, but there's little rosettes in the center of some blocks. So cute!

Next I made dresses, suspenders and bow ties for my "little" brothers wedding. I don't have any cute pictures from it yet, but I will. Here's one I got of Lucy, her brothers were less than cooperative so you just get her for now.

The same week of the wedding was my husbands birthday as well as Lucy's 5th birthday!! And you know what that means....a birthday dress. She wanted something comfy she could wear anytime.

I used the same technique as the BYU T-shirt skirt I made a while back. I just made the "c" much bigger, attached it to a t-shirt and added some sparkle. Needless to say she LOVES it!

There's a few other "boring" things I've done, but on to something much better...
Halloween Costumes.
We usually do family themed costumes about every other year, however this is not one of those years! Can you guess what they are going to be??

I left in their props so it shouldn't be too hard. (Oh and I forgot 2 items.) I'll post pictures of them in their actual costumes soon.

Thanks for stopping by!

More bags, and other projects

Wow! With the end of summer and the start of school things got a little crazy and the blog got neglected, but I still got a bit of sewing done. Hopefully I'll have a bit more time to sew this next cause I'm going to need it....but that's for another time.

Here's a bit of what I have done.
So I tried my hand at a few more bags...these turned out much better and the size is much better too.

I have the material to make the opposite of this one, its just the matter of getting around to it. ;)

I have also been working on a few things for my sweet cousin. She just had her second child, a girl. The first granddaughter on her side! So exciting!

I made this vintage chic canopy...

And this damask/red print canopy....

And I am working on a oversized name blanket. I'll post pictures when it's done.
Thanks for stopping by.

Until next time...

Lillian's Blanket and a GIANT Bag...

So I just thought I would post the finished blanket for my niece...(sorry about it being kind of blurry!)

.
And now I wanted to show you the bag I made that can fit a small child in it!! Unfortunately everything doesn't turn out as planned....

I needed a "big" bag to take to church with me, it just ended up being a "giant" bag.
I started with 4 18X18 inch squares (2 outside and 2 lining) then I decided I wanted a flat bottom and added 6 inches there, then sides and added 6 inches there. So when it was said and done it was a lot bigger than when I started out!! But hey I wanted a big bag and I got one. So here it is....

I also did a pocket on the outside, although its hard to see.

Inside I added 2 pockets on one side.

And added a bunch of spots for pens and markers on the other side.

See a small child could easily fit in there!! ;)

I really like how it turned out, and I definitely plan on making more. Maybe just a smidge smaller though! ;)  Thanks for stopping by!!

Until next time....

Wallets for Everyone...

Apparently I forgot to post this last week. So I guess here it is....
I recently saw a post about a easy fold over wallet, and I thought to myself..."my kids would love one"! Not that they have any money to put in them, more for them to have fun with.

So I went HERE, printed off my patterns, let the kids choose their fabric and got started. I was just playing around and I didn't have interfacing, so I didn't do it. I was also feeling too lazy to change my thread, so I didn't. ;)

They came together very quickly and I like how they turned out. My boys loved the "secret" Velcro pockets. And Sawyer liked that there was a spot for his used iTunes cards too! :)
So head on over and check it out. Thanks for stopping by!!

Until next time....

Blankets again...

So last time I posted about the romper I made for my niece, this week I have been working on blankets. I made a few for a friend, and then made this one.....

Isn't it cute.

Minki on one side.

Ruffle fabric on the other. I plan on doing a few of these kind.
This is the other blanket I am working on...

Yep it's for my niece. She's just too cute!! I should have her name on it soon!! It's the same name blanket pattern I did almost 4 years ago for her big sister and it's what started all this sewing stuff that I have come to love so much. :) I'll post a picture when it's done. Thanks for stopping by!!

Until next time...

Father's Day

Dad's are super special for many reasons!! We like to remind our Dad how much we love him with a present or two, but most of all, with FOOD! Partly because I like to cook, and partly cause Dad likes to eat!! It's a win, Win!! Last year we did tie shaped sugar cookies.

I searched and searched for a tie shaped cookie cutter, but ran out of time and ordered some from a local bakery! Although I would have loved to make them myself, he ate them just the same! :)
I also like to check out the other cute stuff to make...like these....

Little Hamburgers
(Almost too cute to eat....ALMOST.)

Cupcake Lawnmowers

BBQ Cupcakes
(I showed these to my husband and he wasn't even impressed. I say kudos for imagination!!)

This year we are going standard,

BBQ Country Ribs, a few sides, and my husband favorite...

Eclair Cake!!

But then if you are like me you know what to get your husband, but what about your Dad and your Father-in-law....AAAHHHH! This year my friend (Corina) made it super simple. She was selling these great vinyl sayings...

I put it on a jar and filled it with all their favorite treats.

Perfect!

Everything my Father-in-law likes....Check!!

And everything Papa likes (that's what my kids call my Dad)....Check!!

Hope everyone has a Happy Father's Day! Thanks for stopping by!

Until next time...
