Blankets again...

So last time I posted about the romper I made for my niece, this week I have been working on blankets. I made a few for a friend, and then made this one.....

Isn't it cute.

Minki on one side.

Ruffle fabric on the other. I plan on doing a few of these kind.
This is the other blanket I am working on...

Yep it's for my niece. She's just too cute!! I should have her name on it soon!! It's the same name blanket pattern I did almost 4 years ago for her big sister and it's what started all this sewing stuff that I have come to love so much. :) I'll post a picture when it's done. Thanks for stopping by!!

Until next time...

Father's Day

Dad's are super special for many reasons!! We like to remind our Dad how much we love him with a present or two, but most of all, with FOOD! Partly because I like to cook, and partly cause Dad likes to eat!! It's a win, Win!! Last year we did tie shaped sugar cookies.

I searched and searched for a tie shaped cookie cutter, but ran out of time and ordered some from a local bakery! Although I would have loved to make them myself, he ate them just the same! :)
I also like to check out the other cute stuff to make...like these....

Little Hamburgers
(Almost too cute to eat....ALMOST.)

Cupcake Lawnmowers

BBQ Cupcakes
(I showed these to my husband and he wasn't even impressed. I say kudos for imagination!!)

This year we are going standard,

BBQ Country Ribs, a few sides, and my husband favorite...

Eclair Cake!!

But then if you are like me you know what to get your husband, but what about your Dad and your Father-in-law....AAAHHHH! This year my friend (Corina) made it super simple. She was selling these great vinyl sayings...

I put it on a jar and filled it with all their favorite treats.

Perfect!

Everything my Father-in-law likes....Check!!

And everything Papa likes (that's what my kids call my Dad)....Check!!

Hope everyone has a Happy Father's Day! Thanks for stopping by!

Until next time...

Newborn Romper

So this past week I got the chance to hold this absolutely adorable little girl.

Even my kids joined in the baby loving!!

That's big sister in the picture too!

Anyways, my sister-in-law mentioned that she didn't have any newborn clothes. (Big sister wasn't this early or this small) So I got thinking...and that usually means trouble....but I had an itch to try to make something! I decided on a romper. I still have some of that green-ish chevron left so that's what I used.
(Yes I know I have now shown you 3 things I made out of it, and yes I still have 1/2 yd left. I promise I only bought 3 yds and the last 1/2 yd is pajama pants so I promise this is the last you will see of it. Maybe!! Mwaa-haha! ;))
Anywho back to the romper. I had it all figured out in my head. However I had no idea on sizing for a newborn. I picked up a onesie from the store to use as a guide. I quickly made my pattern and got started. I even did my version of shearing or rouge-ing for the first time! Yea me! (Not sure what I actually did, or what it's even called, but I like how it turned out.)
So here it is...

Hopefully when she wears it, it will have the blousy look on top. At least that's what I was going for. :)

I know your not looking at it, but my Mom's backyard is gorgeous!! She rocks!!

Here is the back of it. I got worried the the head hole was too small so I did like a small keyhole that snapped shut, giving more room for her head! It also has snaps at the crotch for my brother to have easy diaper changing access. :)

It's not perfect but I give it an "E" for effort, and an "A" trying new things!!
Thanks for stopping by!!

Until next time...

A Pleated Maxi Dress

Remember the skirt I made last week...the maxi skirt, with the plain colored inserts? Well, I had fabric left over from that and decided to make Lucy another dress for summer. She was excited. Then I remembered a post on my friends blog about pleating and hand sewing or something. I am NOT good at sewing by hand!! So..I decided to give it a try.

I found the post HERE. I did mine just a little bit different, I did it on a scrap piece of fabric and then sewed (is that a word) it onto the bodice. The dress is about the same as the pink chevron one, only no bias tape. Well, here it is, please be nice, I am really not good at sewing by hand!!

Don't worry that it doesn't look perfect, she doesn't care. If it looks like there is glitter on it, there is, the material has glitter on one side and plain on the other. (I used the non glittery side for mine!!) On the tutorial she did it everyone other square, however I ended up doing every square...just for fun!!

Ta-dah!!

My little poser.

I really like how it turned out. Most of all she does too. Thanks for stopping by.

Until next time....

Nothing Noteworthy

This past week, I did some mending, made a skirt, took in a skirt, made more ruffle legging capri's, added a "necklace" to a shirt; nothing noteworthy, mostly stuff you've already seen. So I guess I'll just show you a few pictures of what you haven't.
Here is that maxi skirt.

A simple fold over maxi skirt with inserts. I basically just did a tube then cut up to just below the knee, and inserted a triangle of material. So I ended up with 2 triangles in front and 2 in back. Then I did a fold over waist band and done.

Also about a month ago I was over looking at my friends blog HERE, and Lucy took one look and had to have a shirt just like it. So I finally made one, and here is her version,
she calls it her "fancy necklace shirt". :)
